Charles “Skip” Petit

S

Charles “Skip” Petit is founder and president of International Training Consortium, Inc. (ITCI), a leading training and consulting firm based in the Washington, D.C. area. For over 31 years, Skip has led ITCI to complete more than 2,500 training and development engagements world wide, including projects in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Germany, Italy, Belgium, South Korea, Japan, Africa, and Dubai. Under his leadership, ITCI has served diverse clients, including the U.S. military, federal agencies, and prestigious institutions such as Johns Hopkins University and George Mason University.

Skip’s career spans over 40 years of expertise in curriculum development, training design, and delivery. His instructional proficiency is rooted in his dual master’s degrees from the University of Maryland in Counseling and Personnel Services and Education. He also served as a Mental Health faculty member at Montgomery College for six years.

A pioneer in thought leadership, Skip launched the first annual Thought Leadership Conference and Executive Think Tank  in the late 2000’s. This event, sponsored by the Federal Executive EEO and the Office of Civil Rights Counsel, continues to convene thought leaders from across the Europe, Canada, Australia, and the U.S. to tackle societal challenges such as veteran suicide, homelessness, and cross-cultural fluency. The conference serves a broad spectrum of industries, including government service delivery, private industry, not-for-profit organizations, and higher education.

Through ITCI, Skip has designed and delivered a wide range of programs, from single-group workshops to large-scale initiatives like a 2023 project for 16,000 employees. This project involved the custom design and delivery of training across three levels—employees, managers, and senior leadership—while also piloting the program and training future trainers. ITCI has engaged in the delivery of online learning for over 100,000 medical personnel in one of the largest healthcare systems.

Fluent in both English and German, Skip has lived abroad for nine years in Frankfurt, Germany, and is comfortable working across diverse cultures. His passion for education and training is complemented by his expertise in Instructional Systems Design (ISD). He has personally developed over 500 training programs and remains committed to advancing educational standards to meet the ever-evolving needs of today’s world.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Skip is a talented musician, having performed over 1,000 times across Europe, Africa, and the U.S. He has played drums and bass guitar in professional traveling bands and is an expert in building and maintaining high-performing teams. His musical journey even included time on the road with Willie Nelson’s band as a roadie during his Texas tours.

Skip is also an author, having penned two books: Moving Beyond Unconscious Bias (2002) and 900 Tips & Strategies for Remote Hybrid Work (2021).
